Summer Rain

We had a LOT of rain today. The storms began at 6:00 am and it was still thundering and sprinkling at 4:00 pm. Anything that could hold water, did... wheelbarrow, water troughs, buckets, the bird bath. The pond is full again. I scooped the water out of the wheelbarrow and used it to water the chickens and dogs, and to restock the water barrel. I'm sure the rain could have filled the containers many times over; if I'd thought of it, I'd have put out the Rubbermaid bins that I use to carry hay, and taken the top off of the guineas' water barrel.

When I went out just after sunset to bottle feed the goat kids, the sky was pink behind the hills, the valleys were filling with mist, and the frogs were singing happy songs. Our high was just 74* today and extremely pleasant. And we really needed the rain.
