I did a germination test on the lima beans that were in Dad's pantry, but none of the 20 beans sprouted. That wasn't surprising, considering how old they were. I will buy new seeds - I'm really looking forward to a pot full of butter beans!
At least four of the does are pregnant - I think - and I'm hoping that the rest are too. Grace already has an udder. The first is due on 2/23.
We have a new junior herd sire (pictured above at just a few days old). I've been waiting till he was weaned, and brought him home last Friday. Kind of funny considering our "senior herd sire" isn't quite a year old yet.
We had an ice storm early this week, so much of the time was spent preparing the animals for cold weather. I slipped and fell down the icy front steps. Fortunately I wasn't hurt, but I am nursing a bruise. The inclement weather kept my dh and our son home for several days from jobs and college classes. Our daughter and I really need haircuts, but we've not been able to get down the hill to town so we look pretty shaggy.
The rest of the week was spent getting back into routine, cleaning the house and finding items that were put in different places by my family while I was gone. There are still a few things missing, like the strainer disk to my milk strainer. I hope I can find that before I need it.
