Friday Follow-Up

Lots of barnyard happenings this week...

-- Our first lamb of the season was born on New Year's Eve.

-- Our old mare is wearing a new horse blanket, a size smaller than her old one. She's lost so much muscle tone this year that the old one doesn't fit her well anymore; this one fits much better. I'm so glad we have it for her with the cold snap that's coming.

-- Our butcher calf is now a steer.

-- My 4-H friend took her doe home, which was here to be bred to my junior buck.

-- Taffy's owner took her home, bred to my senior buck, and brought her two yearling does to be bred to the junior buck.

-- I canned split pea soup, and put 5 cups of chopped ham in the freezer for future use in soups and other dishes.

-- We had RAIN early in the week.

-- We have our usual January cold snap coming next week, so we've spent the past couple of warm days preparing. One nice thing: I *don't* have a goat due to kid this time!
