Friday Follow-Up

This week:

-- We had to say goodbye to our old horse, Easter. Knowing it's coming doesn't make it any easier. I am so thankful for the years we had with her and for her endless patience with us.

-- Chuck has been out several times as usual. I no longer panic when he's out; I know he will come for his grain. I do panic when I go out to feed and he hasn't appeared by the time I get the horses put in their stalls. Usually about that time he'll amble over from wherever he is in the hayfield, or will bellow from where he's stuck in the goats' yard. I open the gate and he gallops through with a kick and a buck.

-- My puppy, Pete, pulled some ground beef wrapping out of the kitchen trash can. I took it away, said no and shook my finger at him. He took it out again, and I again took it away and put it back in the trash can. He took it out a third time and when I shook my finger at him he put it back!

-- I moved the does back into one herd and put the bucks back in the buck pen. Life is back to normal! There is a 4-H doe visiting us, so Spots is still busy, but my routine is simplified and I am so thankful! For some reason, it was a lot more stressful this year.

-- We had well over half an inch of rain on Thursday, a good, long, soaking-in rain.

-- Our son's apartment was burglarized this week, the door kicked in and his electronics and other items stolen. I am so thankful it wasn't worse, that he wasn't home, that they didn't trash the place, that it wasn't a fire that consumed all he owned. He's still quite shaken up. What bothered him most is that they took his pillowcases to hold his stuff. He trashed the pillows and bought new ones. It's true what they say, what a robber steals is your peace of mind.

  1. Gracious what a week!

Happy for your dog... terrified for your son. Trust the Lord will keep him and all your family safe.

I had to laugh about Pete. Even my favorite lab has been good - but not that good. She'll drop it, but not put it back! ;)

    Blessings on you all.
