Alithos anesti! He is risen indeed!
You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him."
~ Mark 16:6
Twenty-two years ago we celebrated Easter in Greece. Our two oldest girls were barely teenagers, and I was expecting our son. We were invited to spend the Greek Orthodox holiday with friends, playing tsougrisma and eating the traditional lamb which had been spit-roasted at a neighborhood taverna. Thank you, Barb and family. It was a lovely day.
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!
This is my favorite Easter hymn. I love the triumphant ring of the congregation making a joyful noise to the Lord! May we always remember that Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected, assuring us of eternal life with Him. Listen to "Low In The Grave He Lay" here.
May you have a blessed Easter.
