Celebrating My Blog Birthday

It's hard for me to believe that it's been nine years since I hit "publish" and my first little blog post went live. It wasn't much, just a couple of paragraphs about a tiny turtle we found out in the pasture, but it was the beginning of something wonderful.

I began this blog as a way to share our projects and to encourage you to try your own projects. You can do it!

Along the way I've shared our successes, our joys and our sorrows. Some of you have written me and I've met some of you in person. Some of you I've known for longer than I've been writing this blog. Your prayers held me up when we lost our barn and my goats in a fire. I'm thankful for each one of you.

Last year's anniversary celebration included lots of "eights" - the eight most popular posts, my eight personal favorite posts, eight books on my homestead bookshelf, my eight favorite blog photos, and a set of free printables for your homestead notebook.

To celebrate this year I put together a series of giveaways. You can check out this page to see them all in one place. Hubby also bought a cherry pie so we could celebrate offline too!

By the way, while writing this we heard the outside dogs barking frantically and the fragrance of eau de skunk has permeated the house. Just FYI.

This post has been shared at some of my favorite blog hops.

My hope is to inspire you, and to encourage your homesteading plans and your dreams of a
simple, self-reliant, God-dependent life. You can follow me at:

  1. Congratulations on 9 years blogging! I am fairly new to your blog, but I enjoy your posts and info very much. You are my Goat's Milk Soap teacher - thank you!
I was so sorry and grieved to learn of your losing your goats and barn a while back :*(

Mary, I'm so glad you are a new reader - welcome! - and glad that you've learned a lot. Yes, we had a barn fire 3 years ago. It was a dark time but with the Lord's grace we have walked through that.

Oh, Mary - goat milk soap: I'm glad I was able to help! :-)

  4. Congratulations on your 9th Blogging Birthday and hope you have many more happy years online and at Oak Hill Farmstead.

I just linked up at the same blog hop as you - The Art of Homemaking Mondays - and I always visit post number 50 as that's the number I live at here in Harrogate, England.

Best wishes from across the ocean!

  8. Wow what a blessing 9 years, I have been only going for 9 months, but 9 years is such a milestone. Thank you for sharing your life with us at Good Morning Mondays and for being such a blessing. I hope the skunk smell went away quickly. Blessings

Hi Terri! The skunk smell was gone by morning but it was a stuffy night if you know what I mean.
