Friday Follow-Up

This week:

Now that the weather is bearable, I've been working outside to catch up on what didn't get done outside during the summer heat. I'm expanding the garden, pulling the spent sunflower plants for the goats, and picking up the osage oranges under the tree in the hayfield so the horses can be let out there during the day.

I'm still canning apples, and I still have a canning-to-do list. I'm also cleaning out the freezer so there will be room for the pigs - and then I'll have pork to can and lard to render.

The second calendula flower did the same thing as the first one, sending up new buds from underneath the flower. I'll be watching the third and fourth buds to see if it happens again. The calendula mystery continues...

My Friday Find:

I have two to share with you this week:

As soon as the calendar page turns to October, pumpkin spice seems to take over. From candles to beverages and desserts, pumpkin is everywhere. This Simple Pumpkin Spice Granola sounds delicious, plus it's homemade with real ingredients and is healthy too.

Plus here are some good plans for building a chicken tractor.

My hope is to inspire you, and to encourage your homesteading plans and your dreams of a
simple, self-reliant, God-dependent life. You can follow me at:
