Homemade Cleaners

On our latest shopping trip, I bought Borax (because we were out) and washing soda (to try an experiment). Today I made not only laundry detergent, but also dishwasher detergent. (Or is it soap? Did you know they are not the same thing?)

Laundry detergent

2 cups Borax
2 cups washing soda
1 bar of unscented homemade soap, grated in the food processor

Mix well, and store in an airtight container.

Then I noticed that my box of dishwasher detergent got wet on the bottom, and is caked into a hard lump. I wondered if I could make detergent for the dishwasher, so I did some research, and came up with this:

Dishwasher detergent

1 cup Borax
1 cup washing soda
2 pkg of KoolAid lemonade (I only had lemon-lime, but I'm sure it will work. The "secret ingredient" is citric acid.)

Mix well, and store in an airtight container.

I haven't used either yet, but will let you know what I think when I do.
