Trail Ride

We finally did it!

For literally YEARS my daughter and I have wanted to go trail riding together, but for one reason or another it never happened. Recently we made plans with a friend to meet at a local spot, but we were rained out last week, and our friend had to cancel at the last minute this time due to trailer troubles. K and I decided we'd go anyway.

We went early to avoid the worst of the heat. We sped through the morning chores, loaded the horses into the trailer and away we went!

We went to a city-owned lake with riding and hiking trails; we had a 4-H horse club cookout there last fall. (We'd had plans to ride that day too, but it had rained and it was too muddy to ride.) We were the only horse trailer there this morning; there were two RVs parked in the camping area. We saw only one person the whole morning.

After paying our daily use fee of $2 per horse into the drop box, we saddled up and hit the trail. We've had quite a bit of rain this month, and the trail was still pretty muddy in places. We kept it short since it was a hot day, but we had a great time and hope to go again with our friend.

This is what happens when
your camera is on the wrong setting.

No, I didn't take this one.
I can only ride one horse at a time. LOL

Don't miss the new post today on The Three Generation Quilt!
