Friday Follow-Up

"If you really want to do something,
you'll find a way.
If you don't, you'll find an excuse."
~ Clinton Anderson

In the past two weeks:

-- I made 5 quarts of chicken stock.

-- Cooler weather has arrived, and I love making soup in the crockpot and homemade bread for dinner. This week I tried a new recipe, Chicken Tortilla Soup. It was a little bland and too watery, but I can fix that the next time I make it. I did not add the hominy because hubby doesn't like it, and used cumin instead of the oregano.

-- Found this: Soup Starter. Now that got my brain working! You'll hear more about this concept in the near future, I hope. I'm all for homemade convenience food!

-- The motor on my dehydrator burned up. I walked into the back porch to the smell of burning plastic, know what I mean? Ugh. It was just a cheapie round one, but I used it to death. Hubby ordered a better model for me.

-- Of course when the new dehydrator arrived, I had to make sure it worked. (It does.) More "adventures in food dehydrating" to come.

-- With the help of a friend, I wormed all the goats, trimmed their hooves and took a few photos.
