Popcorn on the Plum Tree

The plum tree is blooming! Nearly every year I post the song I learned in very early elementary school:

Looked out the window and what did I see?
Popcorn popping on the apricot tree!
Spring is coming, what a nice surprise:
Popcorn popping right before my eyes.
I could take an armful and make a treat,
A popcorn ball that would smell so sweet.
It wasn't really so, but it seemed to be
Popcorn popping on the apricot tree!

It's funny how your memory ages: I can remember things from my early days but more recent things escape me. Good long term memory but poor short-term.

I also take photos of the plum blossoms every year, so you have to suffer through more of those today too.

Because I've posted those photos each year, I can tell you when the plum tree bloomed: 3/13/07, 3/6/08, 3/7/09, 3/24/10, 3/8/11. Obviously spring IS early this year, just like I thought - the first blooms appeared on 2/28/12.

I enjoy going near the tree and hearing the buzzing of hundreds of pollinating insects at work. I'm thankful that our night-time temperatures this week are above freezing.
