Last week we went out to dinner at a rather nice restaurant. I ordered the special, the onion burger: a burger topped with caramelized onions, with french fries. Upon my first bite, I wished I'd ordered the fried fish instead.

I hadn't realized until that moment how much better our homegrown beef tastes. I knew it was good. In fact, we've had company that absolutely raved about our steaks and how good they are. This burger was just...sad.

It's an eye-opening moment when you realize that you could have prepared that restaurant meal BETTER. Not to mention cheaper. (The company at the restaurant was priceless, however.)

So I did prepare that meal at home. Last night I made burgers topped with carmelized onions. (Slice onions. Melt butter in the frypan and cook the onions at medium heat, stirring often enough to keep them from burning. So easy.)

The beef patty was done just the way I like it, medium rare, and so tasty. I buttered the buns and toasted them on the grill. We added pineapple and pasta salad to our plates. YUM.

Photos? Sorry, we ate those burgers so fast I totally forgot to take even one picture.

I had grass fed beef once and I was hooked. All the chemicals added to even store bought meat ruins the flavors. We don't eat out much anymore because we can create masterpieces at home. Your burgers sound SO good!
