Friday Follow-Up

This week:

-- Our grandson celebrated his first birthday.

-- It's hard to believe that there is just one week of August left; September and fall will be here before we know it. It's been a pleasant season with not-too-bad temperatures and plenty of rain, so it hasn't really felt like "summer".

-- I found another tomato, just beginning to turn orange, hiding in the tangle of plants. The pepper plants are producing like crazy with lots of flowers and baby peppers. Hopefully the first frost won't be early, so that I can enjoy the harvest for an extended season.

-- From the kitchen window I watched a roadrunner in the front yard pace back and forth in front of the gate. Evidently it had forgotten how it had gotten in the yard. Eventually it flew up to the top of the gate and then down on the other side.

-- Cracker's Adventure of the Week: chasing the roadrunner down the road.

  1. Our weather has been similar to yours and it definitely hasn't felt much like summer. But it is supposed to be in the low 90s for at least the next week so I'll get my fill of summertime now :)

  2. I think we've hit 100+ only once or twice this summer, which is fine with me, I don't do hot weather well. I'm glad it's warm enough that you will get your fill of summer without it being too hot for me. :-)

  3. I still have tomatoes producing here in TX, but they are not very big. No peppers though, so sad, the one plant that survived is barren. And the puppies are chasing birds and butterflies! I love summer!

  4. I do love the butterflies and the wildflowers of summer. Watching your puppies chase birds and butterflies must be fun.
