A Slice of My Life

These cute little melons are the only kind I seem to be able to grow
without the raccoons (or whatever it is) stealing them just as they get ripe!
There are two little melons in the photo, can you find them?

Cucamelons taste kind of like a cross between a cucumber and a melon.
They are only about an inch or so long. They must be eaten at this green stage,
not when they're "ripe" and black.

I thought this pretty vine was a weed for the longest time, then I
saw them listed in a seed catalog and found out they're edible. I'd never noticed
the fruits because my goats always ate the vines before the melons developed.
