Silver Sunday

I am thankful to the Lord, my God, for what I hope is the end of my latest health issues. I've finished the latest antibiotic and am finally feeling pretty good.

I'm thankful that my garden survived (mostly) in spite of my lack of energy, drought and the oppressive heat. The Bermuda grass is taking over the herb bed, and several varieties of bugs - blister beetles, tomato horn worms, grasshoppers and other bugs I don't even recognize - have invaded, but in amongst the overgrown and out-of-control vines and plants are vegetables that continue to ripen anyway. I'm thankful for God's generosity and mercy. I'll continue to water the garden and harvest what's there, and let the rest go without regret.

The first two weeks of August are nearly passed, and I'm very thankful for that. In a few more weeks the awful heat of summer will begin to give way to crisp mornings and then, eventually, more pleasant weather. August in Oklahoma is simply miserable, there's no other way to look at it.

I lost one hen to the heat last month, but then again, I only lost one hen to the heat. I do try to look on the positive side.

What are you thankful for this week?

Silver Sunday

“As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.”
Genesis 8:22 NIV
