Silver Sunday - a simple, joyful life in August

I am thankful to the Lord, my God, for:

August 1, 2021

- sunflowers
- red, ripe tomatoes
- sweet strawberries
- lunch and a movie with the Chief
- the whirr of the cicadas

August 8, 2021

- visiting family
- friends
- air conditioning
- summer rain showers
- hummingbirds at the feeders

August 15, 2021

- we've visited all of our children in the past month, and all but one of our grandchildren. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to travel, for meals shared around a table, for memories and jokes and love.

August 22, 2021

- summer rain showers
- ginger and turmeric for pain relief
- the garden is still lush and green even in August
- discovering "lost treasures" (ie decluttering)
- strawberry runners

August 29, 2021

- energy and motivation to keep going
- early mornings before it gets hot
- morning shade in the garden
- ingenuity
- hummingbirds

Silver Sunday

Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
Habakkuk 3:17-18 NIV
