Convenience Foods - Dump Chicken

I like my crockpot. ~smile~

This is the meal I make when I will be out of the house all day long, or when I have a meeting at night and won't be home to give my husband a hot dinner when he gets home.

Dump Chicken

Chicken pieces
2/3 cup peach or apricot jelly/jam
1/3 cup ketchup
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 tsp chopped garlic
a dash of hot sauce

Arrange chicken in crockpot. Mix other ingredients and pour over chicken. Cook all day on low. Serve over rice.

Although the recipe calls for peach jam, I always have an excess of plum jelly on my shelves (we have a prolific plum tree as well as wild plums) and it works just dandy as a substitute. We've also substituted pork chops for the chicken pieces with tasty results.

Use the same 1/3 cup measuring cup for all the ingredients in this recipe.

There are many other dump chicken recipes online; google for variations.

This is also good with grape jelly. I have a meatball recipe that uses grape jelly & Heinz chili sauce over the meatballs, chicken, etc. N

  2. This sounds pretty good. A co-worker was eating pork with apricots recently which sounded like a good combo. I'm a vegetarian and I think I can adapt your recipe to my meat substitutes. I've been looking for some new dishes to get me out of my rut!

  3. I have some plum jam from our tree this past year that needs using up and this sounds like just the thing! :)

  4. Plum jam is awesome in this dish. I've also used apple, peach, apricot and mixed fruit jelly/jam. The only one I didn't care for was strawberry jam, but hubby would rather eat that on bread anyway.
