Silver Sundays, a simple, joyful life in December

I am thankful to the Lord, my God, for:

December 26, 2021

- celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ
- lovely, though unseasonable, weather for the Christmas holiday and travel
- phone calls with our absent children and their families
- spending the day with our local family
- a child's wonderment, excitement and love

December 19, 2021

- lunch with family and a jigsaw puzzle
- spotting Jupiter in the sky (the heavens declare the glory of God!)
- adding autumn leaves to the compost pile
- cookies and seasonal desserts
- rain after a very long dry spell

December 12, 2021

- The Chief's birthday
- new reading glasses
- finishing a special quilt
- a glorious sunset
- Thor, our cat, watching squirrels through the window

December 5, 2021

- talking with our daughters by phone and text
- our evening trip to the zoo for the "safari lights"
- s'mores around a fire on a chilly night
- anticipating the celebration of the birth of our Savior
- an answer to prayer for a friend

Silver Sunday

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
